Simisola Kosoko, professionally known as Simi, a famous Nigerian songstress, has stated that the over N300 billion budget allocated to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the conduct of the 2023 general elections would have served a better purpose if it had been invested in education and health sectors.

She made this statement in the aftermath of a contentious election marked by violence, voter suppression, rigging, and vote buying.

2023 Election: N300bn budget should've been used to fix schools, hospitals - Singer, Simi - simi

Simi, in a post on Twitter said it would have been better if the billions used for the presidential and governorship elections were channeled to fixing schools and hospitals.

The Joromi crooner expressed utmost displeasure over the elections conducted by INEC as she said that the electoral body could have just simply saved resources and time by pointing to the candidate of their choice.

She wrote; “300 billion naira budget for this joke of an election @inecnigeria you might have as well given them back the money to fix some hospitals and schools and just used finger to point at the people you wanted to select.

“The blatant rigging and nobody in power addressed it. Lol. Giant problem of Africa.

“Anybody that saw the disenfranchisement and didn’t condemn it better keep their prayers for Nigeria. She doesn’t need prayers from people like you.”
