Allegedly ending rumors about Alejandro Garnacho’s future, Manchester United and the wonderkid from Argentina have come to terms on a long-term deal at Old Trafford.
According to insiders, Garnacho began contract extension discussions late last year and has since agreed to a 5-year deal with the English team.
Prior to the agreements becoming formal, a few details pertaining to Garnacho’s image rights must be resolved.
Due to the advancements, he has made since making his first team debut in April of last year, the new contract will see his salary adjusted in accordance with his new position in Erik ten Hag’s team.
His starting point for his new salary will be a healthy raise to represent his rise from the youth levels to a first-team regular since his debut in April, as his weekly salary is currently estimated to be around £7,000.
Since then, Garnacho has made 27 starts for United and scored three goals. He has been one of the Premier League season’s biggest surprises so far.
Real Madrid has a reputation for luring wingers away from Old Trafford, so given his origins, there were worries an early move to the Bernabeu may have been in the works for him the following season.
If he lives up to his world-class potential, Los Blancos, who have allegedly been keeping tabs on his development, would undoubtedly be interested in bringing him back to the Spanish capital.
In 2020, Garnacho transferred from the Atletico Madrid academy to United, and ever since, he has risen swiftly through the ranks of the adult squad.
