Elders from the Conference of Nigerian Elders for Peace and Good Governance (CNEPGG) have vowed to hold the

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, accountable if any mishap befalls the Labour Party (LP)

presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

According to Naija News, Keyamo accused Obi of plotting an assassination attempt that he would blame on the All

Progressives Congress (APC) and then use to gain sympathy ahead of the 2023 election.

In response to Keyamo’s claims, the elders urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC to summon the minister.

The concerned elders demanded that Keyamo be summoned for questioning in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Prof Dele Banjo, and Mallam Hamza Shinkafi, National Secretary, claiming that his claim is exactly what is being plotted against Obi.

“We are of the opinion that extending an invitation to Mr Festus Keyamo, Minister of Labour and Employment will enable him to provide evidence on his allegation that the LP presidential candidate, a man so loved by many, was planning to stage an assassination attempt,” the statement says.

“We warn that if anything happens to our dear son, Obi, Keyamo and his party will be held accountable, especially since many concerned Nigerians believe it is what the minister presented differently.”

In addition, the elders urged politicians and their supporters to avoid manipulation in the upcoming election, emphasizing that the nation’s interests must take precedence over their own.

They warned that no amount of desperation by Keyamo and his APC cohorts will change the outcome of the presidential election in 2023.

“In perfect harmony, Nigerians have agreed to give their youthful presidential candidate the opportunity to redirect and refocus Nigeria on the part of prosperity and greatness that has continued to elude it as a result of corruption, maladministration, and incompetence of past and present leaders,” they added.
