The owner of Marlian Records, Naira Marley has been named the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) newest War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign ambassador.

Naira Marley’s selection as WADA campaign ambassador stems from his powerful platform and enormous fan base, which he intends to use to raise awareness about the risks of drug and alcohol abuse.

With his participation, the NDLEA intends to reach a larger audience and have a substantial impact on addressing this critical issue in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Naira Marley had previously clashed with Nigerian government officials. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested him on the same day he released his 2019 hit song, ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy,’ in 2019.

He also released his renowned song, ‘Soapy,’ which described convicts’ sexual urges, a few days after leaving jail. These contentious songs, as well as Naira Marley’s public character, have stirred discussions about free expression and the impact of music on society.

Naira Marley, on the other hand, is in compliance with the legislation as of August 17, 2023. The musician was welcomed by the NDLEA chairman to offer his support for the advocacy campaign for the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA).

According to an NDLEA official, Naira Marley’s work with the NDLEA is intended to raise awareness about the hazards of drug misuse among Nigerian youth. The organization hopes that his participation will inspire more people to join the fight against drug abuse and contribute to a drug-free society.
