Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles, has lauded Mikel Obi as an exceptional player who gave his all to the senior national team.

He made these statements following the announcement of the former Chelsea star’s retirement from football on Tuesday.

Musa commented on Twitter, “You have been an exceptional player and done tremendous things in your career.”

Mikel Obi announced his retirement from football in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

After a great career with Nigeria and at the club level, the 35-year-old retired.

During his 11-year spell in west London, the Nigerian great earned a total of six goals and 13 assists in 372 games.

The 35-year-old won two Premier League championships, three FA Cups, the League Cup in 2007, and the Europa League in 2013. In 2012, he was also a member of the Chelsea side that won the Champions League for the first time.
