The EFCC has seized $32.4 million in cash allegedly intended for vote buying in Lagos.

This news comes just a few hours before the presidential election.

“The massive operation by the EFCC to deter vote trading and other financial malfeasance ahead of tomorrow’s presidential and national assembly elections may have begun paying dividends,” according to a statement on the EFCC official handle.

“with the seizure in Lagos of N32,400,000 (Thirty-two Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira) allegedly intended for vote buying in Lagos. The recovery was made by Commission operatives from the Lagos Zonal Command”. The post went on.

“The suspect involved has been taken into custody for further questioning”.

“Members of the public are encouraged to report anyone trying to buy or sell votes by making use of the EFCC financial crimes reporting App, Eagle Eye, which is available for download on the Google Play or Apple store”. The post came to an end.

Nigerian general elections will be held tomorrow, February 25, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
