Allies of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu are reportedly unhappy with former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s decision to attend a meeting in London between Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his camp and Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi.
According to Naija News, Obasanjo, who met with Tinubu and some of his allies at his Ota residence last week, also met with Wike, Benue, Oyo, and Abia State Governors Samuel Ortom, Seyi Makinde, and Okezie Ikpeazu.

Some members of Tinubu’s camp claimed that the former president had reportedly committed to their cause, but Obasanjo quickly denied reports that he had endorsed Tinubu during the APC presidential candidate’s visit.

According to a source, while the Tinubu camp is upset that the former president was present at Wike’s meeting with Obi, Obasanjo’s presence was at the request of Obi.

“First, it was the Wike camp that leaked the London meeting with Obasanjo and Obi, and second, Obasanjo was present at the meeting with the Wike camp because of Peter Obi,” the source said.

“The Wike camp did not want the story to be leaked by someone else, which influenced their decision to leak the story and photo of their meeting with Obasanjo and Obi.”

“Obasanjo attended the London meeting at Obi’s request.” The Wike camp wanted to meet with Peter Obi, but Obi insisted on having Obasanjo present before the meeting could take place.

“The Tinubu people were upset that Baba (Obasanjo) was in London because they believed Baba had committed himself when they met with him in Ota.” They felt Baba was already committed to them (Tinubu’s camp), so when he (Obasanjo) met with Wike and Obi in London, the Tinubu camp was not happy that he was there.”
