Armed men have abducted Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya, the 70-year-old mother of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APCJigawa )’s Central Senatorial District candidate.
DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, a spokesman for the state police, confirmed the incident to reporters.
He said the 70-year-old victim, Hajiya Jaja, was kidnapped from her home in Kiyawa town, Kiyawa local government, last night.
Shiisu stated that after receiving the report, police officers were dispatched to the scene and arrested the victim, who was rescued uninjured.
According to a source close to the victim, ten thieves invaded the victim’s house around 9:30 p.m. on Monday night and kidnapped him after shooting in the air.
Kiyawa was a former member of the House of Representatives representing the Kiyawa/Dutse constituency. He was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the APC after losing the PDP’s gubernatorial ticket to Aminu Ibrahim Ringim in the 2015 primary elections.
This comes just weeks after the mother of APC Kano Central Senatorial candidate A. A. Zaura was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
