Michy Batshuayi, a Belgian striker, claims he was duped into joining Chelsea by Antonio Conte’s false assurances about his position.

Batshuayi joined Chelsea from Marseille during the 2016 summer transfer window, shortly after Conte took over as manager of the Blues.

Batshuayi thought he had been bought to play with Diego Costa, but he battled for playing time and finally left after 77 appearances and five loan periods.

And considering the reasons why things did not go as planned “Conte was always contradicting himself,” Batshuayi told SPORT. Let me begin with my arrival. He called and told me about his project. He wanted me to be part of a two-man frontline with Diego Costa. Did I really believe that? Of course, since Conte has always played with two attackers. Except when I’m in Chelsea. I’m not sure what you mean. The fact is that I’ve been duped way too many times.”

Batshuayi scored 25 goals and won the Premier League and FA Cup during his stint at Chelsea.

He left the Blues for Fenerbahce in the last transfer window.
