Kenneth Okonkwo, a renowned Nollywood actor, has resigned from the All Progressive Congress.
The veteran actor cited the ruling party’s decision to field a Muslim-Muslim presidential candidate for the 2023 elections as a primary cause for his resignation in a press statement posted on the movie star’s official Instagram profile on Monday, July 11, 2022.
“IF MUSLIMS CAN VOLUNTARILY VOTE FOR SOUTHERN PRESIDENTS, IT IS A FALLACY TO IMPLY THAT THEY CAN NOT ACCEPT A NORTHERN CHRISTIAN VICE PRESIDENT,” READ PART OF THE STATEMENT.
“IF ALLOWED TO STAND, THIS WILL PERMANENTLY DESTRUCT THE POLITICAL VIABILITY OF NORTHERN CHRISTIANS IN NIGERIA.” This is in addition to the failure to protect Nigerians’ lives and property, which should be their primary responsibility. THE COUNTRY IS ALSO IN TROUBLE.”
The actor stated that he resigned from the organization to promote equity, justice, fairness, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
Okonkwo is a well-known Nollywood actor, director, producer, television personality, businessman, investor, politician, and philanthropist.
