Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United footballer, will be released from jail later today after being granted bail at a secret hearing.
Remember that the 21-year-old was detained for the first time in January when a woman reported occurrences of physical assault on social media. He was charged with rape attempts, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior.
He was later released on bail, but was detained on Saturday in the Trafford area for allegedly violating his first bail conditions.
He was remanded in custody after appearing before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Monday after being arrested last weekend.
However, after a brief hearing today at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, Judge John Potter granted Mason Greenwood bail.
Greenwood was not present for the brief hearing in court this morning, and the proceedings were conducted in secret, with the press forced to observe from outside Court 4.
He is required to reside at his leased property in Bowdon, Greater Manchester, and is not permitted to contact the complainant or a number of witnesses.
The forward, who has played for England once, has been barred from playing or training with the Old Trafford club.
Nike suspended and then canceled its sponsorship agreement with him, while Electronic Arts stated that he had been removed from active squads in its FIFA 22 game.
