A viral video of Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, tripping on the court rails after receiving a 16-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl sparked outrage online.
On Thursday, July 14, the troubled actor was found guilty by the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court.
In a two-hour ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault on Princess’ foster daughter.
Baba Ijesha was sentenced to 16 years in prison, of which 5 years would be served consecutively.
On his way to the prison after receiving the verdict, Baba Ijesha stumbled on the court’s stairway, raising worries about his fitness.
