A famous Nigerian actress, Regina Daniels has stated that the Nollywood industry is not a safe place for young girls to work.
She stated this on her social media page, while urging producers and directors to stop and discourage the use of minors in the film industry.
The 22-year-old actress recalled meeting a 14-year-old girl dressed inappropriately and working as a makeup artist on a movie set.
Daniels, in an Instagram video, urged her colleagues to avoid child labor in order to safeguard the Nigerian entertainment industry.
She said; “I met a 14-year-old girl wearing a short skirt, crop top and working under another young guy on the movie set who claims to be a make-up artist.
Her parents are far away in Port Harcourt and she came to Lagos last year. She sleeps in different hotel rooms with whoever agrees to accommodate her every night and is not willing to go back to her parents.
This girl told me that she is here to learn but trust me, I know the industry and it is not a safe place for young girls.”
She captioned the clip: “DISCLAIMER!!! This goes to the CELEBRITIES AND MOVIE PRODUCERS PLEASE SAY NO TO CHILD LABOUR and keep the industry Secure.”
