On Friday, February 17, some residents of Ogun state took to the streets to protest the continued scarcity of Naira notes. Protesters who couldn’t hide their rage barricaded the Mowe end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, forcing motorists and travelers to turn around.
Rioters also set fire to the highway, causing severe traffic congestion. Motorists, including tourists and commercial buses, who normally use the road, were forced to turn around.
