Pere responds to the arrest of former US President Donald Trump and queries when Nigeria will follow like.
A former housemate on Big Brother Naija, Pere Egbi has praised the American justice system in the wake of Donald Trump’s arrest.
He noted that it is evidence that their system is effective as he expressed shock that a previous national leader could be detained and subjected to criminal charges.
Trump was arrested in Manhattan, New York, on Tuesday, over his alleged role in paying hush money to adult film star, Stormy Daniels, in the days preceding his election victory back in 2016.
The business tycoon turned himself in voluntarily and is now being held on a long list of criminal charges.
As the first former president to enter a courtroom as a criminal defendant after being charged by a grand jury, Trump’s arrest represents a historic shift in how justice is sought around the world.
Pere, a former soldier in the US Army, commented on the situation and questioned the Nigerian court system.
He noted that there are past presidents of Nigeria who are known to be corrupt that should face similar criminal charges.
