The Chinese government has denied sponsoring terrorist groups in order to get access to Nigerian mining areas.

Remember how a British news outlet, The Times, accused Xi Jinping’s government of funding terrorists in order to gain access to Nigeria’s mineral resources?

The study, titled ‘Chinese bribed Nigerian terrorists for access to massive mineral deposits,’ was published on April 15, 2023. reported that “Beijing could be indirectly funding terror” in Nigeria.

However, the Chinese Embassy responded in a statement stating it would never be involved in any type of terrorism financing.

The study is “based on unverified, unclear, and unproven information,” according to the statement, “to which we must express our strong dissatisfaction and objection.”

“The Chinese government, as well as the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, have always encouraged and urged Chinese companies and nationals in Nigeria to abide by Nigerian laws and regulations, and to implement local rules and guidance on labor, environment, health, and safety, among other things, and will continue to do so.”

“The Chinese government was and will never be involved in any form of terrorism funding.”

“The allegations contained in the report were completely irresponsible and unethical, and the report’s intent is seriously called into question.”

“Bilateral cooperation between China and Nigeria has brought tangible benefits to our bilateral ties and the well-being of the two peoples over the past decades.” We will continue to collaborate with the Nigerian government on development and security matters.

“We welcome international partners to join our efforts in good faith but would reject any intention or action that would smear our cooperation.”
